Fine Art On Cape Cod
Gallery owner and artist Bobby Baker’s work is shaped by his love of seaside life on Cape Cod. Baker’s award winning photographic art has been widely published in magazines, books, websites, and his limited edition prints have been collected and exhibited in galleries and private collections internationally. His work has also been featured by the Office of Massachusetts Travel and Tourism and Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.
The Providence (RI) Journal wrote, “Bobby Baker is one of New England’s best coastal photographers.” Shutterbug Magazine called his work “remarkable photography.” Cape Cod Life Magazine states, “Baker captures the Cape in remarkable fashion. His black and white images are iconic in the same way as noted photographer Ansel Adams’ are.”
Bobby has been awarded Copley Artist status by the prestigious Copley Society of Art in Boston. In addition to Bobby Baker Gallery, his work is represented at several other eminent galleries.
Jeff Rutchik is an award winning Cape Cod painter. Jeff’s figurative paintings are created from his memories as a child walking Cape Cod beaches with his family at the time of day when the sun melts into the ocean and the beige sand turns to gray as the heat of the day disappears.
Jeff says that "Hiking the shores of the South Cape Beach inspires me to paint the infinite power I find in nature. The night sky is the background I use to highlight the colors of my emotions and the movement of the sky represents the energy life."
Jeff attended the Norwich Free Academy receiving honors in the Fine Arts. His educational path led to the Cleveland Institute of Art graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with degrees in Industrial Design and Painting. Jeff works predominately in the medium of painting with acrylics, pastels and digital media.
Rachel Avenia is an award-winning artist whose work has been collected and featured in exhibits nationally as well as in Europe. She nurtures a lifelong love of rivers, bays, and oceans along the Northeast coast. Much of her work depicts the peace and often overlooked beauty found at the fringes of popular, well-traveled urban areas.
Rachel’s work invokes musings about light, texture, and color as well as the meditative qualities of where earth, sky, and water meet.
Rachel Avenia studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League in New York City.
She considers Tonalism and American Impressionism to be her stylistic influences. Rachel was recently featured in a 6-page article in the April 2018 issue of Cape Cod Life Magazine. Read the article HERE.
"I love to create images that have life and movement using color and texture."
Jeanette Vertentes is a contemporary painter known for her large-scale colorful paintings. Living close to the sea, where she is surrounded by her dogs and gardens, her vivid creations pay homage to the place she calls home.
In each painting you can see Jeanette's distinctive style and vibrant spirit. Beautiful seascapes, floral still lives, are all brought to life with contrasting and harmonious colors, movement and bold compositions.
As a child Jeanette trained under the painter John Lutes. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Art with a concentration in painting from Rhode Island College where she studied color theory and composition.
Built in the 1800's, our Cape Cod "Art Barn" exudes a cool artistic vibe. With its paint stained walls and doors, the wide plank wood floors, and exposed wooden rafters above, this special building says "art" to all who enter through its inviting red doors!
We are located moments from Kingman Yacht Center, The Chart Room, and just a short walk from the Daily Brew Coffee House on Route 28A in Cataumet, Cape Cod.
Our season is pretty much from late April to the end of the year. Like many on The Cape, we take a break during the winter months, but are always available for private appointments to view art or to discuss art needs - just give a call or send us an email!
Bobby Baker Gallery in Bourne (Cataumet)
Award Winning Fine Art
Cataumet is one of the ten villages of Bourne on Cape Cod. A visitor wrote online that Cataumet was “A little town on Cape Cod where all people do is fish, enjoy their ice cream from Somerset Creamery, swim in Buzzards Bay, and sit in the hammock. Pretty much, the best place in the world. My summer in Cataumet was the best summer of my life.” We agree! It’s a great place to visit, and even better to live year-round and create art!
